    Trials are special content which features NPCs that you can fight to obtain their mock units, or challenge to get some sweet spheres.

    If you have played the original Brave Frontier, you would know what Trials are one of the most fun content, especially when you're looking for a challenge. Brave Frontier 2 continues the same feature with new bosses to defeat and elevates it to the next level with special missions/book achievements!

    Trials 1 -3 are designed to see if you can follow simple fight mechanics.
    • Sasha will warm you up with relentless attacks and standard turn counting mechanics.
    • Roy will spice it up a bit with some turns where you need to Guard.
    • Joshua combines both mechanics to test how well you can react against his plethora of self buffs, with the addition of some annoying debuffs from two mini-bosses.

    Trial 1 (第一の試練): Sasha

    Challenge
    • Clear within 25 turns = 1 Metal Key
    • Do not use more than 6 items = 1 Jewel Key
    • Clear without no deaths = 1 Burst Cookie
    • ---------
    • Clear: Sphere (翠潔刀『彗華』) = +15% Spark damage, +10% BC drop on Spark
    Book
    • Clear within 20 turns = Green title color
    • Clear the Trial with Vargas in the party = 2000 Merit Points
    • Clear with a female unit in the party = Increase Revive loadout to 2
    Recommended Units
    • Vargas/Reed leads
    • Phoenix & Lancia for XBB
    Skillset
    Phase 1:
    • Every 2 turns, 翠扇閃・椿 = ST + chance to Paralyze for 3 turns
    • Every 3 turns, 刹風華 = AoE
    • 翠扇閃・楓 = ST + chance to Injure for 3 turns
    • 守命陣 = gains DEF/MDEF buff
    • ------
    • At 50%, transitions to Phase 2 and heals to full HP.
    Phase 2:
    • Every 2 turns, 瞬迅 翠連華 = strong ST
    • Every 2 turns, 翠扇閃・椿 = ST + chance to Paralyze for 3 turns
    • Every 3 turns, 刹風華 = AoE attack
    • Every 5 turns, 守命陣 = gains DEF/MDEF buff + HP/turn for 3 turns
    • 翠扇閃・楓 = ST + chance to Injure for 3 turns
    • 閃舞刃 = strong Row attack

    • At 50% HP, idles for 1 turn then casts 我流ヴェーダ華剣『繚翠』 = strong AoE
    • At 15-20% HP, idles for 1 turn then casts 我流ヴェーダ華剣『繚翠』 = strong AoE
    Strategy
    1. Guard low HP units every 3 turns to mitigate her AoE.
    2. You can Guard through the nukes on Phase 2 given that you don't have any Paralyzed units and the entire party is at ~full HP.
    3. Use Lancia + Phoenix UBB to shave off some HP and heal a bit.
    4. Use the yellow drugs if you have a Paralysis problem.
    5. Use the Injury sphere to weaken her attacks.


    Trial 2 (第二の試練): Roy
    Challenge
    • Clear within 25 turns = 1 Metal Key
    • Clear with the Summoner in the party = 1 Jewel Key
    • Clear without no deaths = 1 Burst Cookie
    • ---------
    • Clear: Sphere (心精サンクオーレの涙) = +25% ATK based on HP remaining, +25% DEF/MDEF based on HP lost
    Book
    • Clear within 20 turns = Red title color
    • Clear the Trial with Selena in the party = 2000 Merit Points
    Recommended Units
    • Nukable with dual Summoner Ice Sword leads
    • Selena/Summoner Shield leads
    • Lucina/Selena for XBB
    • Elimo/Exyl for healing
    Skillset
    • Turn 1: 焔の陣『カディートフェルン』 = nuke
    • Every 4 turns: 天炎の陣『スヴァローグ』 = AoE
    • Every 5 turns: 焔将天堕剣 = strong AoE

    • At 75%/50%/25% = 11,000 burst Heal, gains ATK/DEF/MDEF buff for 3 turns
    • At 15% HP, idles for 1 turn then casts 焔王の陣『ヴェルフォーグ』 = nuke
    Strategy
    • Guard all on Turn 1
    • Guard during multiples of 4 and 5
    • Guard at 15% with full HP
    • Burst with Selena+Lucina XBB on safe turns
    • Don't suk


    Trial 3 (第三の試練): Joshua
    Challenge
    • Clear within 50 turns = 1 Metal Key
    • Clear with Rin in the party = 1 Jewel Key
    • Clear without Light units in the party = 1 Burst Cookie
    • ---------
    • Clear: Sphere (聖銀の外套) = 3% evasion, +20% BB fill rate
    Book
    • Clear within 45 turns = Blueish title color
    • Clear the Trial with a Fire/Water/Earth/Thunder unit in the party = 4000 Merit Points
    Recommended Units
    • Lance leads when Emilia and Weiss is up
    • Michele for Rainbow squad
    • Chakram Rin for Challenge
    Skillset
    Joshua

    • Every Odd turn
      • ラスト・ディターレント = Row ATK, and gains ATK/DEF/MDEF buff
    • Every Even turn
      • ワンス・ディターレント = ST on current highest HP
    • Every 5 turns, at 80% and 60% HP
      • 聖輝のトライアンフ = AoE, and gains Hit count buff
    • At 75% HP
      • Summons Weiss and Emilia
    Joshua, < 50% HP
    • These 4 skills will cycle throughout the remainder of the fight (starting from Fire):
      • フレア・ブリリアンス = Fire Row attack
      • フローズ・ブリリアンス = Water Row attack + BB ATK buff
      • リーフィ・ブリリアンス = Earth Row attack
      • ボルト・ブリリアンス = Thunder Row attack + Crit rate buff
    • At 40% HP
      • 聖輝のトライアンフ = AoE, and gains Hit count buff. This has NO idle turn. Make sure your units are topped of before pushing.
      • 煌の昂進 = gains +8% ATK/DEF/MDEF for 999 turns
    • Every 3 turns < 40% HP
      • ペイルディグニファイ = Row attack; used every 3 turns when HP <40%

    • At 20% HP, 『…お前に耐えられるか?』 idles for 1 turn then casts
      • ロストルミナ = nuke; once you survive this, gg
    Emilia
    • ジェノサイド・レビン = Row attack, chance to Paralyze
    • ペルクナスグリッド = Row attack, chance to Injure/Paralyze
    Weiss
    • Every 3 turns, 軍師の計略 = ST attack
    • Every 5 turns starting from Joshua's Turn 1, 雷帝戦の大号令 = gains ATK/MDEF buff
    • At 60%/40%, ヴォルゼ=ディート = AoE + ATK/DEF Down chance

    Strategy
    • You can use a full or hybrid Earth squad to burn down Weiss and Emilia fast. Once they're dead, the fight becomes easy. Furthermore, you would need a max Earth squad for Trial 4 anyway.
    • Burn Emilia or get Paralyzed to death.
    • Guard every 5 turns when he AoEs and buffs hit count.

    Trial 4 is a huge step from the first 3 Trials as it requires a fully capable Earth squad to deal damage, and a tanky 2nd squad to eat his nukes.

    Even if you are F2P, no worries! You get plenty of free Earth units early in-game, so you should be fine if you focus on maxing them. In addition, Skill Rise has also been implemented when Trial 4 is out so you should be able to buff them up further before going in.


    Trial 4 (第四の試練): Zado

    Challenge
    • Clear within 55 turns = 1 Metal Key
    • Break Zado before clearing the Trial = 1 Jewel Key
    • Do NOT use XBB more than 3 times = 1 Burst Cookie
    • ---------
    • Clear: Sphere (咎導器・ファルザード) = +25% Stats, +5-10% HP when hit (30% chance, up to 2x/turn)
    Book
    • Clear within 45 turns = Yellow Green title color
    • Clear the Trial after using SBB at least 5 times = 2000 Merit Points
    Recommended Units
    • A mono-Earth squad for offense
    • A defensive squad for defense
    • Lance leads for the offensive squad
    Skillset
    • Zado has inert 30% PHY mitigation
    • Zado is the first boss with Angel Idol (AI). For new players, it prevents him from dying as long as it has the buff.
      • In this fight, you have to trigger his AI buff by dropping his HP to 0. It will then heal for a little bit of HP. At this time, you have to kill him a second time before it casts another AI on himself. Otherwise, you will end up on what we call an AI loop.
    • ------
    • Every 4 turns,
      • レストレーションマーク = 2000-2200 HoT for 3 turns, grants AI and 10% mitigation for 1 turn
    • Every 5 turns,
      • エヴァネスコード = super ST attack (120% HP) on random unit.
      • Used twice after 20% HP.
      • Will not cast if it overlaps with his mini-game on 70%/40%.
    • At 75%, 50%, and 25% HP
      • ロストスコード = super ST nuke (300% HP) on a random unit; aka instant death
      • Used twice at 25% HP
    • At 70% and 40% HP
      • Boss does his mini-game and casts an AoE based on how you sucked at it.
    • At 20% HP,
      • アルティメットスウィープΣ - Fixed 6000 damage nuke
    Strategy
    • You have 2 squads for a reason. The defensive squad is built to eat all its scripted attacks.
    • Every 5 turns, switch to the tank squad and Guard all.
    • Switch to the tank squad before pushing him to 75%, 50%, and 25% HP threshold. Since it will insta-nuke a unit anyway, go all out attack including the Summoner and Rin's pets.
    • Before you push the boss to the 70% and 40% HP threshold, make sure your units are topped off at much as possible to eat the damage from the mini-game.
    • Do not kill the boss on a turn that is a multiple of 4. Otherwise, it will just re-apply its AI buff. Ideally, you would want to kill it after it applies the AI buff so you will have 3 turns to nuke.
    • If Zado trolls you with 2-3 AoEs on a normal turn, you can force close the game to reset its attack set for that turn.
    This is the team I used for my clear:
    OFF: Lance-Lance, Eltri, Elysia, Aneil, Green Ranger
    • 3 units with the Thunder element buff ALT
    • Aneil with the 2-turn self-Spark ALT
    • Healers with 200 BB/turn spheres and 10% BB fill rate EX
    DEF: Trident Summoner -Lance, Chakram Rin, Heine, Zelnite, Sasha
    • Units with HP/turn spheres; Summoner and Rin with HP/turn Enchants
    Item Set: Cure, AoE Cure, HoT Cure, Harp, Revives
    • Use the single cures to heal low HP units in the OFF team early on. With 2 healers, you should be fine.
    • Save the AoE cures on the last 25% HP.
    • Save the first Lance-Eltri XBB for when the boss is within 50% HP. Save the second XBB for emergency on the last 25% HP.
    • ------
    • Switch to the DEF team every 5 turns to eat the ST, and to sacrifice a unit on the 75%/50%/25% HP thresholds.
      • Ideally, you should lose 1 unit at 75%, 1 unit at 50%, 2 units at 25%.
      • That leaves you with 2 units to eat the nuke at 20%. Heal 1 unit to full with your remaining single Cures. You need to save the last unit to tank the 5-turn ST, since it will be used twice at this point.
    • Since your DEF team is wiped out, the boss should kill 2 units on the OFF team on the next 5-turn ST. Use 2 revives. Kill ASAP.

    You can break the boss within the first 5 turns:
    1. Pop Harp on Offense team
    2. Use Aneil Spark ALT > Use 1 Thunder ele ALT > ATK
    3. Use 1 Thunder ele ALT
    4. Use Aneil Spark ALT > Use 1 Thunder ele ALT > ATK > Break
